OCAPICA was created nearly 30 years ago in response to our federal government terminating critical welfare benefits to immigrant communities. Today from the suspension of SNAP benefits, to the attacks on our immigrant neighbors, we are reminded that social services are also social justice. Even if our communities are excluded from the institutions supposed to serve us, OCAPICA revitalizes our commitment to showing up for us all, no matter what.
